The Hot Work Permit process is as follows:

i. The supervisor inspects the work area and develops a fire prevention plan for the hot work activity.

ii. The supervisor completes the permit and signs the Supervisor line.

iii. The person performing the hot work reviews the permit and signs the permit.

iv. The fire watch reviews the permit and signs the permit.

v. The Okland Superintendent reviews the permit for completeness and coordination and signs the permit.

vi. The Okland Superintendent is to take a photo of the permit and upload it into Pro-Core system or the project designated system. If the permit is for a Subcontractor, the Superintendent can designate this to the Subcontractor if the Subcontractor is on the Project’s Pro-Core or the project designated system.

vii. The physical permit is then to be attached to the equipment where the hot work is to be performed.

viii. The supervisor shall monitor the effectiveness of their controls and adjust if improvement is necessary to prevent fire or damage to building materials.

ix. At the end of each shift, the fire watch is to remain for the duration stipulated on the permit to ensure fire does not start following the work and then sign the back of the permit.

x. At the end of the duration of the permit, the supervisor is to return the permit to the Okland Superintendent.

xi. Completed permits should remain in project files for at least 90 days.
