8.10 ATTENDANT IN PLACE

Attendant (e.g., hole watch) in place and understand his/her responsibilities.

Attendant must have a phone to summon emergency assistance AND be able to speak English and, where applicable, the language of the entrants. (Okland policy)

6. At a minimum, one attendant (i.e. hole watch) shall be assigned for each confined space.

7. Attendants shall have NO other duties other than being an attendant.

a. The attendant(s) shall be equipped with an operating telephone to summon rescue and emergency assistance if they are needed.

b. The attendant(s) shall be capable of understanding and relaying emergency information in English and the language of those employees entering the confined space.
